childhood memories~

Listening to the Disney songs, I feel like I am sitting in the time machine where I go back to my childhood period. Lion King, The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty…none of full version of these stories I know even until now. It is sad when everyone excitedly shares these stories among themselves but you have no idea at all what are them. My childhood is without book, not because I never go to kindergarten before, I did actually, my parents sent me to one of the famous kindergarten but probably, it is just my problem for not being able to remember much about what I’d learnt from kindergarten. Though sad, I would never ever blame my parents because they do give me a really wonderful childhood.

Listening to the Disney songs, a lot of childhood memories swarm into my mind within a minute of time. I played a lot when I was a child. My brother and I always played with our neighbours, either those who live directly opposite of my house or those from the same row of my house. We played “House”, “masak-masak”, “Hunting”, “Hide-and-seek”, “Tom and Jerry Chasing “, “Lego”, “Building Construction”, “self-made parachute”, “Train”… … I remember once, when we played “Hide-and-seek”, I hide behind a table where I clamped both of my hands and my legs on the edge of the table. I remembered when we played “House”, we will use all the cushions, pillows and blankets to build a house the the corner of our living room. We were always reluctant to demolish the house at the end of the day because it’s so comfortable though many mosquitoes. We really had many great times together and I even tried to make Rabeenna ice-blended together.

Besides playing, I did have wonderful time together with my parents too. They taught me a lot and they are the one who have molded my character. I still remember that Dad is the one who had taught me cycle and until today I still can remember how I learnt cycling with my red bicycle. Dad taught me how to sing and encouraged me to take part in school singing competition. I won the first prize for the first singing competition I participated when I was in Standard One. Now, because of him , I enjoy singing so much. Dad also taught me make paper swan and paper boat. He unearth my interest in making handicraft and now I do have a lot of handicrafts displayed at home. Dad has taught me lots of things. I like the way he teach. He always takes the non-violence approach when I do something wrong.

Mum also contributes a lot in shaping my character. She taught me to be disciplined and she taught me mathematics. I learnt how to solve simple mathematics questions without writing out the working on a piece of paper. Besides, she is the one who create my interest in drawing and music. She sent me to Organ class and Drawing class when I was in Standard One. Now, I really have great passion towards music and art. She also always encourages me to take part in drawing and colouring competitions. She helps me to prepare all the drawing and colouring materials before going to competition. She sharpens all the colour pencils, she prepares table and chair for me to sit during competition, she accompanies me throughout the competition……Apart from that, she also sent me for swimming lessons. She has sacrified a lot for me. Thank you, mummy!

These are my neighbours – 曾楚恩,曾子丞,曾子维,曾子明,王祥永and 王祥正. We have been lost contact for many many years and we never see each other since they had moved away from my residential areas. I am wondering how they look like now. Last time, all of us were just little innocent kids when we were forced to separate, but now, we are all almost in early adulthood. How are all of you now? I wish to meet you all back if God allows us to do so.

… …

When I recall back, actually, I did have read three children story books when I was a child-三只小猪,小红帽 and something about豆。Besides, I did learn some of the children stories from television but the one that stick in my mind most firmly is Pinocchio. Even though I didn’t read much during my childhood, I do appreciate what my parents have given to me and I’m hundred percent sure that they have provided me the best ever childhood they can for me! I missed the most interesting and sweet story telling time anticipated by most of the children, but I get what most of the children missed – the freedom of experiencing something new, challenging and might be quite dangerous but FUN!
